Hustle Fried Rice
Loaded with chicken, BBQ pork, beef, shrimp, and eggs
Wok-fired heat. Mountain-town soul. Bold flavors served fast from a Tahoe landmark reborn.
Long before South Lake Tahoe was even a city, the building that now houses Kung Pao Hustle was already serving locals and visitors alike. Originally an A&W Root Beer stand with carhop service on roller skates, it later became the 50's Diner - a beloved stop for car buffs and an iconic part of Tahoe's dining history.
Over the decades, the space saw many short-lived ventures come and go. In 2025, Thanya and Oliver Starr purchased the property with a vision to restore its legacy as a true community gathering place. Kung Pao Hustle was born - bringing bold, wok-fired Chinese cuisine to the mountains with irreverent energy and uncompromising flavor.
Every dish is crafted with care: fresh ingredients, fiery woks, and recipes that honor tradition while hustling into something new. Whether you're fueling up after a day on the slopes or craving late-night comfort food, we've got the heat you need.

Tahoe's new go-to! Finally, a spot that delivers flavor without the fuss. Everything tastes fresh, portions are generous, and the staff genuinely care. The orange chicken was crispy perfection, and the fried rice was the best I've had in town. Fast, friendly, and delicious - can't ask for more.
We are stuck in a hotel room because my daughter is sick and she had a yearning for some noodle soup and this wonton soup totally hit the spot for her. She said it was better than the one we get in San Francisco, which says a lot!
